词源词根法
ap=ad=去,point(-punct-)指、刺,点+-ment名词词尾。连起来就是指着某个人、点着某个人。我们想象一下电视里面的情节,指着某个人让他去干啥事,这不就是命令吗?有命令引申出委任和指令。
同时:还有另外一种理解:去一个点。这个点肯定是约好了的,而点还有准确、准时、掐点的意思,所以要准时到那个点,引申为见面约会,但是这个约会不是男女朋友的约会,一般指的是商务上约好的一个时间点,大家都准时见面的概念。再由准时见面引申出预约的意思。
所以appointment主要有三个意思:任命、预约和约会。
单词用法
appointment的基本意思是“约会,约定”,其后可接动词不定式作其定语;
表示“(什么时间的)约会”时,后面可接介词at或for。
appointment也可作“任命,委派”解,后面可接of或as短语,在of或as后的名词前不加不定冠词。
